Where
Peat is one of the first materials you find in the game, along with Copper 
and Water 
. It's to be mined from the ground in the Marsh area in the start of the the game, and generally found in grassy areas. It's also sometimes retrievable from wooden sources.
Use
Peat is also, along with Wood 
and Water , usable as fuel for boilers. It has no immediate other uses.
